The Electric Toothbrush Met The Lobster

Ahh, let’s see here … what have we been up to? I’ve applied for a job at Skookum Jump Rope Co. They’re apparently looking for a software developer / systems admin / systems analyst. I’ve had an interview, and am waiting for more info from them. Seems to be a great company, though.
Kelly’s doing a quilt for the co-op playschool Christmas auction / dinner thingy. We’re on the BLUE TEAM, which means we help set up and tear down. I keep wanting to say “Blue 5 here … I’ve got some TIE Fighters trailing me! Need some backup – AHH!!” like what an XWing squadron could say in Star Wars. I don’t think I’ll get the chance, though.
We did see X-Men 2: X-Men United the other day. I finally figured out what I like about X1 and X2. It feels … cheap. Contrasting it with Lord of the Rings, and that movie is so grand, and so seamless. You can’t really see where CGI lets of and acting begins, and it’s such an epic movie anyway. X-men, well, there’s a million mutants, and a million CGI scenes that you can see. It’s more throw-away somehow. I’m pretty comfortable with the idea that I can rent it, enjoy it, and return it. With LotR, you’ve got to take a stand. When someone asks you about the movie, it’s a 30 minute conversation because the movie implies that anything less wouldn’t be fitting. Not so with X-Men.
Speaking of movies, I’m going to see Master & Commander with Steve Wilmart tonite. Maybe get some alcohol afterwords, we’ll see.
Oh, and I’m working on some new GPL software. It’s a Guest Registration program for Bed & Breakfast places. I’m nearly done — modelled A LOT of it off of Mac OS X. Simple interface, search records from any screen, that sort of thing. I’ll post a download link (like anyone cares!) when I’m all done.
