"linksys" Is So Totally Boring
I've been wardriving a lot lately. Warwalking, actually. The thing is, I got this new PDA from work. It's a Dell Axim X30 (mid range), 312Mhz Xscale CPU, 802.11b, bluetooth, whoopti-doo. Anyway, the wireless part, that's the entertainment.
People on 14th street in Port Townsend (where I live, duh) have predictable names for their wireless networks. default was uninspired. HomeOffice is boring. linksys -- LINKSYS! Whoo, slow me down.
Oh, and one spot of life in an otherwise boring list of SSID's - coynewireless. Weak signal though. I couldn't reliably connect. Anyway, Switchboard shows two Coyne's in the area, neither near where I'm getting signal. Probably unlisted.
Anyway, overall review - the hardware seems solid. It's a plain shape and design, but feels well made. I really expected a lot of polish in Windows Mobile 2003 (I think they should add Extra Fancy to that title, like ketchup. Extra Fancy Windows Mobile 2003. Kinda nice, huh?). It's crashed twice, and I thought they'd have resolved this whole network splitting thing. Connections aren't attached to adapters, they're attached to either INTERNET or WORK. Except, they're not always named that. Sometimes it's MY ISP and MY WORKPLACE. Just lacks some configuration polish.
Why is it so hard to get Exchange 2003 ActiveSync working over wifi? It shouldn't be this hard coming from the lame king of systems integration.
