I Have Been Playing Video Games
Been playing a lot of video games this weekend. My pal Neil came for a few days worth of visit, and he's been keen on Knights of the Republic. He's a Star Wars nerd, and KotR is the latest Star Wars video game.
Anyway, it's available for Windows, as well as the Xblow console. I prefer consoles for gaming, since they're more to the point. Tyson (of Tyson & Chelsea fame) loaned me his Xblow for the week, and ... well ... between Neil and I we'd logged 16 hours over two days. That's a full time job, really, 8 hours a day. Yikes!
It's a good game. A variation on the Final Fantasy style 'role-based' game. Note that I did not say 'role-playing' game. It is not. Dungeons & Dragons, now there's a role playing game. Or Cyberpunk. Or Rolemaster. Or GURPS, even, for Pete's sake. Spacemaster. Chill. Call of Cthulu. Werewolf. Earthdawn. Shadowrun. Whatever. But not a video game where each choice gives you three options. That's not role-playing, that's choose your own adventure books.
Anyway, I think my next step is to get Linux on it, then to run MAME.
