Vespas Are Really Nice
Sick. I'm still not finished with my Vespa. I was reminded of this fact today when I had lunch with my long time cohort (yes, cohort) who has a working Vespa. A Rally 120 Sport, to be precise.

Vespas are very important. I think I got my Vespa in 1995 or '96, and it wasn't working from the get-go. I must have spent a thousand dollars on it that first year, which was a lot considering I was going to college on my own dime and working at Dairy Queen for the kingly sum of $5.15 / hr.
We (Ben Rabey and I) sand-blasted the paint off; had the tear in the body welded back together; repainted it; rebuilt the engine; replaced all the cabling, lights, mirrors, horn, handlegrips, kickstart; and probably other stuff I can't remember.
Then I sort of lost the ability to follow through on it.
Bringing us up to this point, when I want to get it working again so desperately, but I've lost ground because I've been lugging it about without proper care for a half finished machine.
Over that lunch I talked about earlier, Ben and I discussed our plan for enabling my Vespa. First, parts inventory; then ordering from scooterworksusa.com; then a few Saturdays of work and we should have a plan of where we're at. Man, if I could ride it to work this summer, I'd be pretty happy.
