Bye, Stump
Nels lost the stump today. You know ... the umbilical stump. It's gross -- trust me. It's been stinking. The midwives (whom we're still seeing) assure us that this is normal. Despite it being our second kid, we're none the wiser on this particular issue.
Still, he's an amazing guy. I'm quite proud of him. Check this out -- born at 8 lbs 7 oz, he's up to 9 lbs 12 oz. Not bad for (almost) two weeks.
Getting ready to fully post the photo albums. Sorry about the delay -- we just got our broadband back. We've been using dial up to cut costs as a result of my running my own computer business. Since being hired at Skookum, we're able to restore it. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!
And speaking of computers, here I sit with Red Hat 9 running the Ximian Gnome Desktop 2. It's nice, but clearly plaguarizing Mac OS X. The control panel is a twin brother of System Prefs. Sick. Why doesn't Linux, which is a hotbed of activity, channel it's own originality? It seems that open source (I'm generalizing, here) lacks the self confidence to claim it's place. It won't take the desktop any time soon until it does get some confidence. Ah well. It'll happen when it happens.
We've had a meal calendar going, courtesy of the Wilmarts. Very nice. Free food, shows up at 5-6pm every other day. SO NICE RIGHT NOW. Nothin' better when you've got a new baby than a fresh meal ready to eat. We're so well supported in this community. I couldn't imagine raising our kids elsewhere.
