I recorded both using my Canon XL-1s camera mic, which actually sounds OK. While we were playing, Geoff kept asking for things to be simpler. I finally listened to him & backed off the guitar loops, and he was right - it sounded better, and a good indication of what I hope we can do together.
what's in a name I've always really liked songwriting. With the music industry in such a beautiful state right now, musicians have freedom in such a beautiful way. Although computers can be reluctant partners in the writing process, they're a necessary evil for how I'm writing music these days.
Geoff Cotton is an old friend of mine, was a groomsman in my wedding, and played drums with me in Nobstreater back in the late '90's. We've been back together, thowing some ideas around. One idea is to add alternate instrumentation, like a viola or cello. Or to swap the roles, as in letting me beatbox while Geoff sings a melody. The freedom is really exciting. So for now we're calling ourselves "No Cake For Boys".
This was taken from an old camcorder tape someone had made at the last show of my band, Nobstreater. This must be about 7-9 years old or so - I can't really remember.
